THIS Life is Our Vacation

Reflecting on the enJOYment of being...typical Leo Season fare!

At First It Was Just the Usual…

It was another typical session of Anak’s “spiritual standup” on IG Live … piecing together, in a riff whilst procrastinating packing, my very 12th House Profection deep dive into Dr. Haramein’s new physics theories about gravity and the Nature of Reality, taoism, kabbalah, yoga, and tantra:

What if this life we are each living is our “vacation”?

If we are indeed a fractal expression of the Universe, both the Divine Mother/shakti and Her creation, the atoms of the Universe made conscious to observe itself, in other words: Let’s suppose for this discussion that our existence is based on this “spark” of life, that flame of the timeless that we carry into this discrete experience (btw, represented by the Sun in our natal charts).

Some traditions see this embodiment as “maya” (mistranslated as “illusion” into English but is more accurately interpreted as “a construct”) — from which we have to achieve liberation — whether that’s moksha, nirvana, heaven. The body is perceived as a prison for the “light”, and we’re in The Great Escape, trying to tunnel out from mountains of karma accumulated over billions of years to get re-absorped into an undifferentiated Consciousness…like participants in an universal auto-da-fé or a bonfire of the vanities — carrying our metaphorical sinful objects in the long queue of time and experience up to a magnificently raging flame into which we will cast it and be made pure again. (Jupiter, is that you orchestrating all this?)

Then, there are those who see the body not as a prison with senses and desires to be purified of but as a vehicle through which to both recognize and inhabit the timeless in a way that can’t be when you’re an energy being or a star out there burning in the vast void of space time.

It’s like an early episode of Star Trek the Next Generation (LOL — you knew my nerdy ass was going to go there), the crew come upon a planet with a weird energy cloud on it. They send an away team down to check it out but they wind up crashing and one of them breaks an arm. Anyhow, the three that were fine get possessed by some energy beings…Long story short: The cloud was filled with the consciousness energy of these prisoners who were separated from their bodies and sentenced to exist as pure energy — and they needed bodies to escape.

Which leads me to…

What If We’re Here on Vacation?

I know. I know. There are some of you out there that are like, but Anak! You have spent YEARS telling us no one on planet Earth is here on a vacation…But, hey, sometimes you change your mind — or rather perspective.

But, let’s play this thought game: What if we are indeed here “vacationing” from our lives as energy beings taking a break with our charts representing our itinerary or package?

For the majority of us, our lives don’t resemble what comes to mind when we think of a vacation. Between having to feed, clothe, and shelter our bodies and coping with the relationships we find ourselves entangled with upon arrival, the deduction that “we’re in prison” makes sense … but bear with me: Let’s look at the word “vacation” to back into this. Meriam Webster cites its deep roots are from the Latin vacatio “exemption from service, respite from work” which traces back to vacare “to be empty, be free, have leisure, annul”.

I mean, if we’re a “star” (aka a burning furnace of nuclear reactions), being a human being and a passenger on a pretty idyllic planet sounds like an exemption from service and a respite from work. I can’t speak to our other existence with any authority, but we’re imagining here.

If human life is a vacation, then how does that change how you perceive and approach living? Would you wake up every day more excited to see what’s on the itinerary? Would you approach challenges or difficult situations with more of a sense of experimentation and a ‘let’s see what happens’ attitude? How would that affect relationships and how you engage with others? How would that change your relationship to your own body?

Let’s face it. We all do vacation differently:

Some of us prefer the run up to vacation — getting to do all the planning, the preparation, the outfit shopping, the anticipation of going somewhere out of our ordinary routine (I’m looking at you Leo, and Libra) fantasizing about what might happen — and then getting there and finding that “Wow, it didn’t look like that on Trip Advisor!” Then, when we get there, it doesn’t quite match the fantasies and expectations we’d created around it.

There are the people who go without a plan and prefer to be surprised and take off on a spur of the moment whim — why not (Aries, Gemini, Sagittarius)? We have the time and resources to go — or Ooo! We were invited! Why not? It’s chaotic, unpredictable, and exhilarating for better or worse.

Then those who can’t stand being on vacation for into three camps:

Those who try to sneak in work behind their partners’ or families’ backs — because “relaxing” and being a passenger seem like a waste of time. (Yes, you, Capricorn and Aquarius)

Then you have the ones who turn the whole vacation process into work — itineraries that have to be done NO MATTER WHAT! The plan is the plan and you’re going to have fun god dammit — and you’re going to learn useful things along the way! Until they get drunk and wind up off the beaten path and are both thrilled and yet terrified. (Eyes on you Virgo.)

Those who would rather be sleeping in their own beds (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces) and spend the entire time doing their utmost to recreate home while away.

Finally, there are those who never want to go back. It doesn’t matter how crappy the vacation is, the thought of having to go back and inhabit that “normal” life sounds like a prison sentence — because they feel fully alive whilst in a body (Taurus).

You get the picture…and all of these different approaches to vacation actually influence what happens on the trip.
